Nyveen Wins Owner of the Year Award

The Compton Crips season didn't end the way it's owner wanted to, but the other owners around the league recognized their top mans effort in putting the team together. Today the league office has announced that Compton's owner Jeff Nyveen has won the league's Owner of the Year award for the 2005 season.

In 2004 the Crips missed the playoffs as upstart Puyallup won the American League West crown by one game over Compton. Unhappy with his teams play Nyveen set out to revamp the team during the off-season.

"When he overhauled the roster I didn't think he had a chance. But the guy obviously knows what he's doing." says one league Owner.

Overhaul doesn't begin to describe it though. The transformation of the roster was incredible. Nyveen dumped everyone then remade the team. Upon further review he went back to the drawing board and did the process again. Two different overhauls in one off-season.

"You gotta give credit where credit is due. I didn't give them a snow balls chance in hell to do anything this season and they came out and won 95 games. I voted for the S.O.B. and he deserves to win it", says runner up Ty Alston.

Nyveen and Alston shared the award in the 2002 when they both were within one vote of each other. This year Nyveen was the clear front runner winning the award by thirteen votes. This marks his second Owner of the Year award.

The man himself had this to say about winning the award, "It's nice to win things like this. I put a lot of work into this mind-numbing league every year, and it's nice to get the recognition. I share this award with all of the other owners out there who have stayed up until 4am at least once doing research for the annual draft."
