| The Compton Crips play at the Ballpark in Compton, a park modelled closely after the Ballpark in Arlington. The 49,115 seat open-air ballpark was designed and built with tradition and intimacy in mind, with features such as a granite and brick facade, exposed structural steel, an asymmetrical playing field, and a home run porch in right field. The seats are as close to the baselines as any in baseball. The field itself is located 22 feet below street level in order to avoid summer winds. The effect of the wind is further reduced by the fact that the ballpark is completely enclosed by the four-story office building in center field. Games at the Ballpark in Compton are always memorable. As the Crips battle it out on the field, fans routinely taunt each other with violent threats. Instead of the 7th Inning Stretch, the Compton faithful engage in a 7th Inning Brawl. Knives and automatic weapons add excitement to this Compton tradition. To get inside for a game, fans must show proof of their devotion to the Crips. Acceptable proof might include a handgun, a stab wound less than two weeks old, spontaneous Ebonics, or a blue handkerchief.
