10/17/2006 In a move that can only be described as sheer genius, the Crips start Johnny Podres, a lefty who toiled in the minors for all of 2006, against the Houston Scalpers in a must-win playoff game. Podres comes up big, shutting down the Scalpers offense and throwing a CG 1-hitter. Houston manageer Matt is not pleased. |

2/26/2005 In Spring Training, Bill Risley does double-duty as the Crips beat the Fog 5-4. After blowing the game for Merced in the top of the 9th, Risley puts on a Compton uniform in the bottom of the 9th to earn the save. 4/7/2005 Five games into in the young 2005 season, Frankie Rodriguez blows the game for the Crips by throwing a wild pitch in the bottom of the 9th. His nickname is officially changed from "K-Rod" to "WP-Rod." 4/30/2005 David Cone throws a no-hitter against Long Island. The only run comes on a Mike Schmidt error in the 7th. Not to be outdone... 5/1/2005 ...Long Island throws a combined no-hitter against Compton THE VERY NEXT DAY. Compton's run comes from a Milton Bradley sacrifice fly in the 6th. 9/30/2005 Blackwood's Tim Wallach outduels Bowen in the 3rd Bowen Classic. Wallach even struck out Schmidt! After 3 games and 21 IP in the majors, Bowen now has an ERA of 25.71 and a record of 1-2. To appease the fans, Pedro makes an appearance. |
