I'll agree with you on 300 too but it never struck me they targeted that deep of a plot anyway. Historically it's ALMOST a figment of someones imagination. Just a coed friendly movie.
Violence for the guys and scenery for the chics. Based on that expectation level...SCORE! Distracting enough that if there had been a story line to pay attention to I would probably have missed that ;)
