Australia's largest national park and the backdrop for Crocodile Dundee. The place is beautiful, the history is interesting, and our guide, Travis, was fantastic.

These huge termite mounds were all over the place. Electrical poles in the area are all made of iron.

Here's Charlie the water buffalo, the beast Mick Dundee puts to sleep with his outstretched arm in Crocodile Dundee. They keep him and a few kangaroos in a big pen at a restaurant just outside the entrance to Kakadu. Strangely enough, Charlie died of cancer a few days after I saw him.

It had been pouring for weeks before we got there, and most of the park was flooded. The birds didn't seem to mind, plucking the fish out of the overflowing streams. The flooded fields also meant that crocs could be anywhere.
